Digitizing 45s

I purchased software, an audio CD recorded, and a huge stack of audio Cds and have started the process of digitizing all my LPs. It's a big job, but I've decided to do the LPs before I start on the 45s.

The software I'm using is Spin It Again. I really like it. It does a good job as far as audio quality is concerned. I like that it automatically stops at the end of each side of the LP, so I don't have to be around to immediately turn the LP over. I also like how easy it is to edit the beginning and ending points of each track. If there is silence between tracks, it does a good job of automatically separating them. But sometimes there is a very quiet part in the middle of a song, or two songs have little silence between them. This is particularly a problem with live LPs. In that case a little hand editing easily gets the tracks properly separated.

Here's a tip however. Use the track timings to help you find the correct location to separate tracks. I makes it lot faster to find the corret location.

I'll still have probably two or three years of work to do to get all the LPs recorded. Then I'll start on the 45s. I haven't settled on what I want to do with them. Maybe I'll record them, one after the other (side A then side B) and essentially make my own compilations of 45s on CD. Oh well. I've got a couple of years to think about it. I'll eventually decide how to do this.

Blind Leading The Blind

Speaking about the religious leaders of the time, Matthew 15:14 in the Bible says: "Leave them, they are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit."

Without Christ we are spiritually blind. To follow anyone other than Christ is to be following the leadership of a blind man.
