I love Peter and Gordon's music. They made some great music. So I'm not picking on Peter and Gordon, but their song "A World Without Love" reminds me that we live in a world filled with love... God's love. I know that Peter and Gordon are talking about personal relationships, but that's the problem. Let me explain.
As I said, I love Peter and Gordon's music. God gave them talent to create good music. As I'm writing this I'm also watching Austin City Limits and there is great music on the TV right now. God has given a lot of people a lot of talent. It's a wonderful gift from God.
But how do we use these gifts from God? Do we use them to glorify the one who gave us these gifts? To glorify the one who gave us our lives and gives us even the air we breath every day? In general no. Most songs glorify humanity and Gods is not even mentioned. It is as though God didn't even exist.
Imagine that someone gave you a a hundred million dollars. It's all the money they have, but they decide to give it to you... tax free! Wow! You buy the house you wanted. Get a nice car. A super wide screen TV and a rockin' sound system to go with it. You pay off you bills and live in luxury the rest of your life. But you never say thank you to the person who gave you the 100 million dollars. You don't even acknowledge that they exist. How do you think they feel?
Or let's turn the question around.
Suppose you have a friend who is sick. They don't have insurance and can't buy the very expensive medicine they need. So you sell your car, start working a second job, and give up your Starbucks coffee. You save you money and buy your friend the life-saving drugs they need. They are saved, but they don't even say thank you. They never call you. They treat you like you didn't exist. How would you feel?
That's what most people do to God.
Use your talent to praise and glorify God, the one who gave you your talent.
